Angry Dog Dallas

If you’re looking for the kind of neighborhood bar and grill in Dallas, you might want to head over to the Angry Dog Dallas bar and cafe.

Angry Dog hamburger

One of the oldest bars in Deep Ellum, it stocks well over 100 different kinds of beer, both domestic and imported. You can have a few drinks and even eat at the Angry Dog for less than $20.

The decor is definitely eccentric, including the swordfish mounted on the wall with a list of daily specials on a chalkboard hanging below the fish. Since the Angry Dog is a bar, it is obviously adults only.

This hangout is particularly popular during football season so be sure to stop by the Angry Dog if you’re a fan of college or NFL football. You’ll find fellow sports lovers hanging out there. However, seating is strictly on a first come, first served basis so you might want to get there early.

Even though there is a definite hometown and neighborhood bar feel to the Angry Dog, they also have a tasty menu, one which has won plenty of awards. The bar and grill has been praised for having the Best Burger and Best Cheap Eats by AOL’s City Guide. Dallas Observer gave a nod to the Angry Dog for the Best Burger.

Popular items include the cheese fries served with ranch dressing and the burgers. Many agree with the Dallas Observer, noting that the Angry Dog does indeed have the “best burger ever.” Order one and see if you agree.

But the real highlight of the menu for many is the signature hot dog. It is not only huge but covered with cheese, chili and grilled onions. This hot dog not only has a wealth of toppings but even comes with a side of fries. It’s nearly impossible to eat at the Angry Dog without sampling this very special hot dog.

Insiders know that the Angry Dog’s rules are relatively simple but solid. The staff reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. Bar or not, foul language isn’t allowed and single women are expected to be treated respectfully. The jukebox volume? It doesn’t change so don’t bother to ask. The rules are part of the “personality” of the bar and grill.

If you’re looking for a quiet bar, the Angry Dog isn’t going to suit you. Friendly and noisy, it is like hanging out at a great party every night.

Since the Angry Dog is best enjoyed at night, you might want to head out for some sightseeing first or perhaps drop by the Sons of Hermann Hall (less than a mile away) before ending up at the Angry Dog. The Dallas Comedy House and the Dallas Farmer’s Market are other options.

If you’re staying at the Hotel Indigo or the Joule, you’ll also be about a mile from the Angry Dog, an easy walk or drive from your hotel room. The Adolphus and Magnolia hotels are also located quite near the bar and grill.

You can take home a bit of Angry Dog style, including baseball caps and shirts. Black Caps have the Angry Dog logo on them and cost $17.97. Shirts average between $15 and $17.00. If you have any golf fans at home, check out the golf towels, sure to be a unique gift or souvenir.

The Angry Dog is located at 2726 Commerce Street and can be reached at (214) 741-4406.
