The BarBelmont is located in the Mid-Century styled Belmont Hotel (a very relaxed and nice place to stay). This bar has been showcased as one of the Best Bars in America by none other than Esquire magazine, especially for the special drinks available there.
The view is among the best in Dallas, also noted by Esquire as well as by the regulars who hang out at the BarBelmont. If you stop by there, you never know what you’ll find. Yes, there is regular entertainment but there can also be unexpected events, including movies shown on the wall of the nearby Belmont hotel.
Every year, starting in May, local musicians play at the BarBelmont. From acoustic music to hip new turntable beats, the performances keep things jumping. Although the BarBelmont isn’t exactly located in the heart of Dallas, it is worth the drive to experience its special atmosphere. You’ll also get a look at one of the original vintage hotels, reputably the first motel located in Texas.
When you arrive at the BarBelmont, perhaps you’ll be lucky enough to catch an art opening, with the opportunity to meet new and established artists in Dallas. Or you might happen to drop by when a tarot card reader is in the house (or was that move already destined in the cards?).
If you really want an extra kick to your evening, consider dining at Smoke first, an on site restaurant at the Belmont hotel, located just a few minutes away from the Bar Belmont.
Homestyle cooking, Texas style, is featured at Smoke. With a restaurant named Smoke, it isn’t a suprise to find hardwood smoked meats , including ribs. Macaroni and cheese and classic foods are what you can expect at this restaurant.
Then head straight to the BarBelmont. If you want a change from night clubs and bars with strict dress codes and just want to ease into the evening dressed in your favorite casual clothes, the BarBelmont should definitely be at the top of your list. It is a popular neighborhood spot and don’t be surprised if you see a few celebs here who want to escape from the busy bustle that downtown Dallas represents.
How relaxed is it? While you’re not likely to be able to walk in there barefoot, the nearby Belmont hotel does offer plenty of events where shoes are optional so the BarBelmont is probably among the most casual places you’ll find in the area.
Be sure to ask if you can have a look around the lobby and other areas of the Belmont hotel while you are there. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to catch that Mid-Century feeling of a hotel originally built in 1946. You might even decide to book a room there so you can visit the BarBelmont daily.
When it comes to popular drinks, the martinis have a solid reputation for being both delicious and top quality. If you’re up for something out of the ordinary, give the Elizabeth Taylor a try, a unique blend of cream of violet and champagne. Bottomless Mimosas are featured on Sundays. The Belmontini is the signature drink, a mixture of Absolut vodka, pomegranate juice and champagne. This one has a definite kick!
The BarBelmont is open from Sun-Wed from 3pm -11 pm and Thurs-Sat from 3pm to 12 am. It is located at 901 Fort Worth Avenue and can be reached by phoning at (866) 870-8010.
