Bowling Dallas

Strike! For fun for all ages, head to one of Dallas’s top bowling alleys, including 300 Bowling Dallas, Main Event Dallas and USA Bowl Dallas. These three bowling alleys are a great way to take a break from the Texas heat, keep the kids entertained and challenge your spouse to a friendly bowling face-off.

High Times [Explored Front page]300 Bowling Dallas
This is not your father’s bowling alley. Gone are the smoke-filled lanes, stale food and cheap beer of yesteryear. In their place is this spotlessly clean, high-end bowling alley, where Dallas celebs like Dirk Nowitzki head when they want to kick back and have a little fun.

When you aren’t bowling, enjoy the floor-to-ceiling video screens, private lounge with billiard tables, and casual dining restaurant. If the Cowboys or Mavericks are playing, you can always catch them on the big screen here, and snack on one of the popular wings or nacho platters. And at night on the weekends, the place transforms from ordinary bowling alley to chic nightclub complete with pulsating beats, black lights and music videos.

Games start at $4.25 per person during the week before 5:00pm, and $5.25 on weekends and holidays. Friday and Saturdays after 5pm are $7.25 per person, per game. Shoe rentals are $4.75.

From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day weekend, kids bowling before 5:00pm (excluding Saturday) enjoy one free game per day, free shoe rental and $5 kids’ meal specialties. On Mondays and Tuesdays, enjoy “all-you-can-bowl” for $15. Weekdays until 4:00pm, guests can enjoy one game of bowling, shoe rental, one drink and one item from the set lunch menu for $14.99 per person. Or stop by for Happy Bowl Hour, every weekday (including Fridays) from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, and relax after a long day with domestic draft and drink specials.

Need an upgrade for your work conference? Take a break from the PowerPoint presentations and head to Club 300, where you’ll enjoy a private bowling suite with six lanes, a dedicated bar and an attached meeting room.

The major downside to 300 Bowling Dallas is its location in Addison. If you’re staying in downtown Dallas, it’s about a 30-minute drive north up the Dallas Tollway.

3805 Belt Line Rd, Addison; From downtown Dallas, take Dallas North Tollway to the Belt Line Rd. exit.

Main Event Dallas
More than just a bowling alley, Main Event Dallas is a local chain of entertainment centers that also include billiards, arcade games, laser tag, and glow golf. This family-oriented destination is a great place to take the kids when they need a break from visiting museums, and you need a safe place for them to let off energy.

During the day on the weekends, be prepared for a fair number of young children screaming, shouting and being generally crazy. If you are looking for a quite date spot, this is not it!

Prices start at $19 per lane, per hour during the week, and are $29 per lane, per hour from 5:00pm on Friday to 5:00pm on Sunday. Shoe rentals are $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for children.

Be sure to check the website for location-specific information and special discounts before you go. Popular specials include $5 all-you-can-bowl deals for school holidays. If you join the Main Event email club, you will receive a coupon good for $10 off one hour of bowling.

USA Bowl Dallas
For frugal fun, this is the place to be. During the week (Monday to Friday), games are $2.50 from 11:00am to 5:00pm, and just $2 from 8:30pm to close. On Sunday mornings (9:00am to 1:00pm), games are $2 per person.

Sure the balls may be a little beat up, the lanes are a little worn, and yes, there are a few seedy strip clubs across the street, but USA Bowl Dallas is still a popular destination for good, clean (and cheap) fun. It’s a great place to head with friends, coworkers or other couples for a low-key night out. And despite the questionable neighbors, it’s still a safe, family-friendly place to take the kids.

Did we mention there’s a lovely employee who drives a drink and snack golf cart around to all the lanes taking refreshment orders? When you’re in the heat of a bowling battle and busy losing your dignity to gutter bars, a cold drink is just what the doctor ordered. And there’s plenty of greasy fried food to binge on following a tough loss.
