The Dallas Museum of Art is situated in the Arts district of downtown Dallas and began its life back in 1903. In 1963 there was a merger between the Dallas museum of fine art and the Dallas museum of contemporary art.

These two become one and in 1979 a new museum was built and was opened in 1984, it has since been expanded in 1989 and 1993. A sit became more popular it housed further exhibits meaning it needed more room. The Dallas Museum of art is based over 8.9 acres and has over 110,000 square feet of exhibit space.

This museum boasts some of the best collections of fine art and has more than 23,000 works of art from around the world. These pieces range from modern art back to ancient times and are housed in the $20 million purpose built building.
