One of the most popular tourist attractions in the continental United States of America is the Dallas World Aquarium in Dallas, Texas. There are so many different sights and things to do at the Dallas World Aquarium that it can take quite a bit of time to see and know about them all.
The building that the Dallas World Aquarium started in was originally several different companies. It was built in 1924, and used for such operations as the Pioneer Steel Rule and Die and the Mohawk Rubber Company. It opened to the public in the year 1992, and it is located at 1801 North Griffin Street in Dallas Texas – considered to be the Historic West End of downtown Dallas.
Spending a day at the Dallas World Aquarium can be much more enjoyable when one doesn’t have to leave to eat, etc. The Aquarium makes this easy by offering three different restaurants on the property. One is the Café Maya, and the other two are the eighteen-O-one and the Jungle Café. There are also two places to buy souvenirs and keepsakes at the World Aquarium, including the Gift Shop and Book Store.
The Aquarium is closed only two days of the year – Thanksgiving and Christmas Day – and it offers a variety of fees and services for its members and visitors to use. Children age two and under are not charged to enter the Aquarium, and adults can get in for fewer than 21 dollars. The Dallas World Aquarium also offers a variety of event and dining areas for special events to be held for a charge. The spaces are great for wedding receptions, dinner parties and birthdays – imagine eating dinner while looking at the beautiful salt water species of the world.
One of the things that the Dallas World Aquarium is most known for is working for conservation of endangered species throughout the world. The Aquarium works closely with organizations from Peru, Venezuela, Panama, and Costa Rica to breed, raise and protect endangered species from these central and south American countries. Organizations that the Aquarium works with include the Association for the Conservation of the Amazon Biodiversity and Institute for Investigation of the Peruvian Amazon.
The Dallas World Aquarium is an important part of the local life as well as a huge part of the tourist industry of Texas and Dallas specifically. The different exhibits, feedings, and educational opportunities for children and adults alike make it a great place for family visits, and the popularity of the dining and event rooms make it perfect for many events.
In short, a great attraction for families, individuals and groups paired with great prices and extras make the Dallas World Aquarium a great place to go for family fun and educational opportunities.
