Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House isn’t only known for some of the best steaks around but manages to please both steak and seafood lovers, with an equally fine reputation for both beef and lobster dinners.

With a refined, warm atmosphere, soft music, fresh linens and dark wood tones throughout, the restaurant is an ideal location for special evenings. If you’re looking to impress business clients, regulars have noted that Del Frisco’s is a “great place” for doing exactly that.

The friendly staff and tasteful decor is impressive without being overstated. You can simply pull up to the main entrance and take advantage of valet parking, making it quick and easy to walk right into the restaurant.

Once inside, you’ll have your choice of eight dining rooms, some with fireplaces in them. If you want a private dining room, simply inquire ahead of time and make arrangements for one. You can also opt to sit near the piano bar or call ahead for the Chef’s Table. Reservations are not required but are strongly suggested.

While Del Frisco’s is admittedly “pricey” (expect to pay $80, on average, for a meal here), you’re likely to agree that it is well worth the expense.

The restaurant has won numerous awards, including being named the Top Steakhouse in Dallas (2008) as well as becoming a member of the Fine Dining Hall of Fame. Wine Spectator gave the restaurant an Award of Excellence and Zagat listed Del Frisco’s as among the Top Rated in Dallas.

All the accolades have been echoed by the many diners who agree that Del Frisco’s is worth repeat visits. You might very well want to make more than one visit to this popular dining spot while in town.

If you happen to be staying at  the Le Meridien Hotel, shuttle service is available, eliminating the need to drive to the restaurant.  Other nearby hotels include Candlewood Suites and Hyatt Place North.

If you want to squeeze in some sightseeing before dining at Del Frisco’s, the world-class Galleria shopping mall as well as the Cavanaugh Flight Museum are less than a mile away.

Before you go to Del Frisco’s, there are a few insider tips to help you make the most of your culinary experience. Even though Del Frisco’s is an upscale restaurant, you’re expected to use your hands to rip, break or tear bread loaves in pieces. That’s the ideal way to enjoy the freshly baked bread’s best flavor and texture. Whatever you do, just don’t cut the bread with a knife.

When it comes to menu options, don’t expect to find any chicken entrees. The lack of poultry dishes is more than offset by the incredible steaks, shrimp, lobster tails and other seafood. Of course, you’d expect only the best beef at a steak house and Del Frisco’s certainly doesn’t disappoint.

The Ribeye, a generous 16 ounce cut of meat, is absolutely delicious. It is also well marbled with fat (as Del Frisco’s menu plainly notes). If you prefer leaner beef choices, go with one of the Filet Mignons. The lobster also gets high marks and is an excellent alternative to the very popular beef selections.

Although you’ll want to dress comfortably, men should at least don sports coats and nice slacks while women should wear a simple dress or nice pantsuit. While you aren’t likely to get any flack if you wear jeans, you may feel a bit under-dressed. Business casual is par for the course.

Unlike many restaurants, Del Frisco’s allows a wide range of servings sizes for wine. If a whole bottle of wine seems too much for you, Del Frisco’s offers half bottles of wine.

Sommeliers gets high marks for being both knowledgeable and friendly. The wine list is extensive, with over 1500 selections. No wonder Del Frisco’s has the distinction of having won the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence from 2000-2008.

While the restaurant is ideal for adults, Del Frisco’s does have its share of families. There is plenty of lively conversation and hearty laughter so kids don’t have to be absolutely silent or feel constrained. Del Frisco’s is the perfect restaurant to introduce children to fine cuisine in a friendly atmosphere.
