Hibiscus Dallas

Always listed among the top restaurants in Dallas, Hibiscus Dallas offers an upscale dining experience with an emphasis on outstanding service as well as fine cuisine. How impressive is the service?…

Hibiscus - Tables

It is frequently listed as noteworthy and greatly appreciated by regulars who make a point of eating out at Hibiscus as often as possible. Many even have favorite servers and ask for them. Even gourmet magazines and media reviews mention the service.

Both the food and the restaurant are designed on a grand scale. The space is enormous and so are the food portions. Those who like the best steaks and seafood are never disappointed at Hibiscus Dallas.

The Executive Chef always prepares extremely large servings of perfectly seasoned meats and fish. You should be prepared to order complete bottles of wine unless you can make do with the relatively limited “by the glass” wine options. This is a relatively small quibble for a very fine restaurant.

Signature dishes include Tuna Tartare, Crab Crusted Sea Bass with Wood Roasted Tomato Salsa and Lobster a L’Orange. The USDA Steaks are simply superb.

Entrees and other menu items do change with the seasons and everything is unquestionably fresh. But even the basics, including macaroni and cheese and apple pie with lavender scented ice cream, are always a cut above the norm.

When it comes to awards, it is impossible to list all those which Hibiscus has received. Zagat called the restaurant a “home run” for both chef Nick Badovinus and owner Tristan Simon. Bon Appetit magazine found that many of the entrees could easily serve two.

For those on a budget, the trio is very popular. It includes a fillet, tuna and salmon – a bit of everything. The Crab Dip is considered a must and is a signature appetizer. You can expect meals to be on the expensive side but prices vary.

To get an idea of what you might spend, it is best to call the restaurant and get a price range. Expect to pay between $28 to $38 for a steak entree and lobster will run you $75 and up. Add some wine and you can expect meals to cost quite a bit here.

When deciding whether or not to choose Hibiscus Dallas, remember that the restaurant is definitely not small and the main dining room seats as many as 140 people. This means you should expect a fair amount of noise although this doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

Families mingle with cutting edge crowds and everyone seems to get along just fine. Even though the restaurant is spacious, reservations are strongly encouraged.

The large space has impressive vaulted ceilings.  A private dining room would be perfect for a large business dinner and can seat up to 80. Finally, smaller business or family dinners can be accommodated in a room that holds up to 25 people. If you want to mix business with fine dining pleasure, Hibiscus would be an excellent choice.

The crowd often tends to be hip and trendy but you’ll find plenty of folks who aren’t going to be seen or admired but simply want a good meal.

Hibiscus Dallas is open Monday through Saturday from 5 Pm to 11 pm and is located at 2927 N. Henderson Avenue. Reservations can be made by phoning (214) 827-2927. If you’re staying at the Hotel Zaza, Hibiscus is less than 3 miles away.
