The Magnolia Hotel Dallas was originally home to the Magnolia Petroleum Building and is a Dallas landmark, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For quite some time, it was the tallest building in Texas.
In its current incarnation, it is a 29 story upscale hotel right on Main Steet in downtown Texas. As you walk up to the Magnolia building of today, you’ll see a grand entrance with all the charm of old world architecture.
Stay at the Magnolia and you’ll experience the finest Southern hospitality in a luxury hotel which blends historic architecture with a modern twist. The building is immediately recognizable by the trademark Pegasus or flying horse at the top of the hotel.
It is also conveniently located near the American Airlines Center (where you might attend a Dallas Mavericks game), Dallas Convention Center, and Texas Stadium. If you need a drug store, a CVS is within easy walking distance.
The Magnolia Hotel Dallas is most popular with couples and those passing through Dallas on business. While families are welcome here, there isn’t a swimming pool on site and most of the complementary amenities, including beer and wine receptions, are geared towards adults.
The lack of a swimming pool doesn’t bother adults in town for business or couples looking for a romantic getaway. They are satisfied with the workout area, the excellent service and the proximity to the Neiman Marcus flagship store right next to the hotel.
Room prices average between $105 and $251, on average, year round. If you want to experience a sense of the hotel’s early history and have an extra special experience, ask for a room on the 24th floor.
There you’ll find the original older doors from the earlier building, complete with grass transoms. Wood floors, paneling and marble accents let your savor the delights of the past while enjoying all the advantages of modern service.
Be sure to ask about current discounts. The Magnolia has been rated as a top value for accommodations while in Dallas so you may well be able to get a package deal with such extras as free valet parking and an upgrade to a suite.
All rooms come with wireless high speed Internet access and executive work desks. Starbucks coffee is also provided in each room. Pay movies, Nintendo and Web TV is available, along with an iron and ironing board.
The bathrooms are stunning, oversized and complete with garden tubs and a large vanity mirror.
Rooms are large and comfortable, with special touches such as lights illuminating each room’s artwork. Hotel staff will do whatever they can to make sure your stay is pleasurable.
Have someone celebrating a birthday? Don’t be surprised to find a birthday cake in your room, along with a cluster of balloons. While you’re at the hotel, do as the regulars do and be sure to step out the back door and enjoy the park, perhaps taking time to feed the birds and relax.
Amenities include free American breakfast buffets (which regular guests say is not only satisfying but saves time and money), complimentary evening receptions featuring beer and wine, bed time cookies and milk and an on site Starbucks Coffee shop. If you get the urge to work out late at night, you can take advantage of the 24 hour fitness room. Afterward, soothe any aches and pains away in the Jacuzzi tub located near the workout area.
When it comes to dining choices, you can enjoy the full bar with drinks and a complete menu. A billiards area is also in the dining area. Room service is available if you prefer to eat in the comfort of your room.
If you’re in town primarily for business, the executive conference center and meeting space is perfect for getting together with your corporate team. Special events can be scheduled in the Pegasus Grand Ballroom. Corporate transportation is included to and from most downtown business centers and high speed internet access makes communication between clients quick and easy.
If you need to stay in Dallas for up to a month to attend to business, the Magnolia has special extended stay rates and loft style rooms with full kitchens. Be sure to inquire about this option and any special discounts. With laundry and housekeeping service on site, the Magnolia can be your home away from home while conducting business.
Guests tend to note the number of nightclubs and restaurants within walking distance of the Magnolia. It is also near the Sixth Floor Museum and Deep Ellum, a lively neighborhood full of clubs, restaurants and trendy shops. Check out the art lofts in Deep Ellum as well and see what local artists are creating.
