You’ll find a wealth of modern sculptures as well as painting and drawings at the Center. Because the collection is so large, artwork has to be rotated in and out of the museum. Which means you’ll always find something striking and intriguing to check out as they have special exhibitions throughout the year.

The Nasher Sculpture Center is on a world class level and you’ll see works from such famous artists as Picasso, Lichtenstein, Rodin, Miro and others. When you stroll outside, the exterior sculptures are highlighted by the Dallas skyline. Each complements the other beautifully and the outside gardens and permanent sculptures provide excellent opportunities for photographers.

Since exhibits of of sculpture can be found on both the grounds as well as the interior of the Nasher Sculpture Center, you’ll want to leave time to visit both spaces. You might even want to plan to eat lunch or an early dinner at the Center.

You don’t need to bring along a picnic basket, though, since there is a cafe which has a lovely view of the fountains and gardens. Visitors rave about dining at the Nasher Cafe while viewing the beautifully landscaped grounds and sculptures.

You may also want to leave time to take advantage of the self-guided audio tour which is absolutely free of charge. It is in English only and you simply check out the tour and then return it when finished to the front desk (all audio tours have to be returned 30 minutes before the museum closes).

Although the Nasher Sculpture Center isn’t huge, it is wise to leave the better part of your day for your visit, particularly if you enjoy sketching artwork. You can use pencil, graphite, oil pastels and conte crayons to try to capture the art and sculptures or produce original work inspired by what you see. This is an excellent family activity.

The gift shop is the perfect place to find plenty of books, jewelry, home accents and even original artwork. Whether you want books about art or perhaps some original paintings for yourself or to give as gifts, this Nasher gift shop has something for nearly everyone.

If you are planning to take photos while at the Center, be aware that it is fine to take non-flash photos of the permanent collections. However, no photos are allowed of any special exhibitions.
