Stoneleigh Hotel Dallas

If Art Deco and vintage touches appeal to you, the Stoneleigh Hotel Dallas should be a pure delight. Each room feels like taking  a trip back in time, with the finest decor from the 1920′s Deco era.

Crisp, clean lines, marble finished furniture, and rich mahogany woods set off the main rooms. Most rooms also have marble flooring in the bathrooms. Tribute rooms are special features at The Stoneleigh. Each pays homage to a special celebrity, from Elvis to Judy Garland.

The Tribute rooms are a natural fit for a hotel with such an illustrious history. First opened in 1923, it was the very first building in Dallas designed in the Beaux Arts style. At the time, it was 11 stories high and marked the era of luxury high rises in Dallas.

It was also noted as the tallest hotel west of the Mississippi. Some of the most famous names of the time could be found at the Stoneleigh. They included  Jack Benny, Judy Garland, Bob Hope, and more.

In time, the hotel needed a facelift and $36 million was spent to restore it to its original glory. Now The Stoneleigh is extremely popular with business travelers as well as those where vintage decor not only appeals but is both unique and comfortable.

Since the renovation the Stoneleigh is now a showplace in Dallas, worth booking a room or set of rooms there.

While the entire hotel is impressive, the spa area gets special rave reviews. The Stoneleigh Hotel and Spa is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s “Historic Hotels of America.”

The location of the hotel is superb, right in the center of Dalla’s Updown district, with one of a kind shops and art galleries. The American Airlines Center, Dallas Museum of Art and North Park Center are also within walking distance.

Convenient to major airports as well, Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport are less than 30 minutes away. The House of Blues as well as the Sixth Floor Museum are located within 2 miles from the hotel. In fact, it is hard to find any major attraction which isn’t a short distance from the Stoneleigh.

The spa receives a fair share of admiring comments from guests. With a hydrotherapy pool, rainshower, massages, and much more the Stoneleigh’s spa is the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation. Some come to the hotel just for the spa experience – which is testimony enough to the elite spa experience found at The Stoneleigh.

If you drive to Dallas or rent a car while there, do be aware that valet parking is around $20 a day at the hotel and plan for the additional expense. Room prices average between $125 to $271, depending on which type of room chosen.

Stoneleigh Hotel Room

Each room was custom detailed by the design firm Forest Perkins. The theme is 1920′s Art Deco, a delight if you like the ambiance of retro decor and architecture. All have luxury linens and (when possible) original windows, fireplaces and other touches reminiscent of the hotel’s early days.

For the ultimate experience, perhaps for a honeymoon, the penthouse is particularly opulent. Even the penthouse’s rooftop terrace has a generous 590 square feet. Inside this very special set of rooms are a penthouse gallery, music room, dining are and library.

Weddings can be performed in the penthouse and it is an impressive space for business conferences. If the penthouse is outside your budget, you can be assured that you’ll find each of the rooms at the Stoneleigh to be impressive.

The hotel is located at 2927 Maple Avenue and can be reached for further information at (800) 921-8498.
