York Street Dallas

If you prefer ecologically friendly dining establishments, you should check out York Street Dallas.

Only the freshest ingredients are used and they are purchased from small suppliers which are owner operated. Eco-friendly practices are a priority, as are sustainable and ethically raised foods. Diners know that all ingredients will be obtained and prepared using methods that won’t harm the environment.

When it comes to accolades and awards, York Street Dallas has no shortage of those. It has been named one of Gourmet Magazine’s Top 50 Restaurants in the country and has also received 4 stars from the Dallas Morning News. The New York Times Travel Guide listed it among the top places to eat in Dallas. These are just a few of the many top reviews and noted articles which have featured York Street.

Looking for a romantic dinner in a small, cozy restaurant – with an emphasis on small?

York Street will definitely suit your tastes. Reservations are recommended since York Street is so tiny. Regulars describe the atmosphere as “quaint” as well as appealing. How small is it? It has approximately 12-14 tables, making reservations a must for a guaranteed table.

If you love tea, you’ll definitely want to check out York Street because fine teas are almost an art form at the restaurant. All teas and herbal infusions are created with the help of Kyle Stewart and Phil Krampetz of The Cultured Cup.

Teas are brewed just right so that they complement the appetizers, entrees and desserts served at York Street. The Cultured Cup has been noted as being among the Great Tea Rooms of America and offers a wide selection of rare and unique teas from around the world. Many are served at York Street.

While there is no typical menu at York Street (and the wine list also changes from day to day), past appetizers have featured such unusual items as spring pea soup, deviled goose eggs with smokey paprika, and duck tongue salad. Dinner entrees are equally daring and innovative, including Maine day boat halibut, windy meadows chicken, and veal sweetbreads with morel mushrooms.

Expect to spend anywhere from $70 to $93 per person (including wine or tea) at York Steet. Entrees average around $30 per person and appetizers  range from $9-$14. You’ll have a hard time ordering only one appetizer so factor in those costs as well as wine and desserts. Most desserts cost at least $8 each.

One of the most unique features at York Street Dallas is the international wine list. Regulars love the fact that they can purchase any wine listed and take a bottle (or two or three) home to enjoy whenever they wish.

You can try a glass or two of various wines at York Street and decide which ones you like with particular meats or appetizers. Then you can simply take your favorite with you. If you’re into fine wines, this option should be particularly appealing.

While York Street has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant is best suited to adults rather than children. Because of the constantly changing food items and unique spices and ingredients, the menu is not generally considered particularly kid-friendly and the small space is also best suited to adults.

York Street’s luncheon hours are from 11:30 till 2 pm on Wednesdays and dinner is served from Tues- Sat from 6-10 pm. The restaurant is located at 6047 Lewis Street and can be reached at (214) 826-0968.

Nearby hotels include the Hotel Palomar and Abby Brown Guest House. The Pocket Sandwich Theater, noted for both vaudeville and classic productions, as well as the Pure Spa and Salon are less than two miles away.
